A Christmas Message

For today's Christmas blog I wanted to share part of a message from President Monson. I love this little quote. It is amazing to me this year the difference in our home. As many of you know, Mike was inactive when we met and were married. It was a long journey and took the support and friendship of many great people to help him return to the church and then for his testimony to grow and prepare him to be able to go to the temple. Since we were just sealed together in June after more than 6 1/2 years of marriage it has been a blessing to see the difference in our home. We especially feel that difference during this Christmas season. We find it to not be as much about giving and getting but more about the blessings we have and most importantly, giving thanks to our Heavenly Father for the greatest gift of all...Christ and the Atonement and Resurrection. That is the best gift ever. I think once a person truely understands the Atonement (and I am sure I do not completely understand it yet) and how it works and what a gift it is to us, it changes his/her entire outlook on life and on Christmas.

"Giving, not getting, brings to full bloom the Christmas spirit. Enemies are forgiven, friends remembered, and God obeyed. The spirit of Christmas illuminates the picture window of the soul, and we look out upon the world’s busy life and become more interested in people than things. To catch the real meaning of the “spirit of Christmas,” we need only drop the last syllable, and it becomes the “Spirit of Christ.” "

~Thomas S. Monson~
I hope everyone takes these last few days before Christmas to really focus on Christ. Do something nice for a friend, family member, or neighbor. Start a new tradition that focuses on Christ and the Spirit of Christmas. Merry Christmas!
