I am so not ready for the Holidays
I must say that time is just flying by and I am SO not ready for the Holidays. We went and did our first bit of Christmas shopping the other night. We are going to Lewiston this weekend and are trying to avoid shipping more presents than needed. I couldn't believe I was looking for Christmas presents. After Thanksgiving we will be doing Christmas letters and cards, decorating, shopping, baking, going to parties, and so much more. I really am not ready. And since there are no kids that I will be sharing Christmas Day with, I feel as if much of the magic is gone. Hopefully I am able to get in the Holiday Spirit after Thanksgiving. Until then I will continue to say that the year has just flown by and there is no way that Christmas is only a month away.
FOR ME
After a rough night for Mike and I, as he went to take his mom home last night, I found myself at the edge of my bed, face soaked with tears, in prayer. Mike and I have questioned the direction we should go lately with the many obstacles in our life. I was deeply pondering on one of those items, frustrated that I had not felt that I had received an answer. I was emotionally and physically exhausted. I questioned the decisions I had made, although they had been made prayerfully. I was wondering if it was time to just give up on this certain trial. Don't we all feel like that at some time or another? I have felt this way several times, especially with this particular trial. As I prayed and asked the Lord to give me the strength to accept whatever answer I was given, and to be able to recognize that answer, I expressed how I felt I could no longer continue in the direction I had been guided and that I felt it was time to "give up". As I finished my prayer, I felt comforted that no matter what, I would be able to handle the answer I was given.
As I read my scriptures later that evening, I was drawn to a scripture I had actually read several nights before. I kept trying to stop myself from reading it, but for some reason, when I would start reading the verses I had planned on reading, my thoughts and eyes were drawn to this other scripture. I would like to share this scripture. Not something I normally do but since so many of us often want to give up on the plan the Lord has, and since it touched me so deeply when I finally read it, I am going to share it.
Alma 26:27
"Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold the Lord comforted us, and said: Go (insert where ever your trial is, etc (the one in Alma is teaching the Lamanites))...and bear with patience thine afflictions, and I will give unto you success."
What a comfort this scripture was to me last night. Although I must admit as I was typing it I realized the key is to bear with patience. Although, 7 years is pretty patient I don't think I have a patient attitude.
Trials are the entire reason we are here on this earth. I have been taught that from such a young age. Many of us have. Then why do I (and maybe others but nobody else I know) always sit there with a why this, why me attitude? I know that when something happens to me I ask why this, why now and so much more. Or when you think you have finally overcome a trial, only to find you have farther to go...How many times have each of us thought "Why would the Lord finally give me such and such only to such and such to me?" Really, is that the attitude to have?
I remember about a month ago there was a Sunday school lesson and the question was does God do things TO US or FOR US? This entire experience, while not yet over, has made me take a step back and think about that. This particular trial (of which many of you are aware) has brought Mike and I closer together. It has made us feel grateful for the things we do have. We have been able to help others around us and make new friends that we may not have been so close to without this trial to share. So really, while it is hard for me to see at times, this trial was done FOR US. I guess I just needed to remember that. So the next time I start thinking that the Lord is asking too much and that he is being unfair to me, I really hope that I remember last night and the scripture that I read, the way the Spirit touched me and let me know that this trial is part of Heavenly Father's plan for me, that he does love me and if I am patient, obedient, and endure to the end, he will "give unto me success".
I apologize that this was such a scatter-brained post. I hope that the message I wanted to share was able to come through.
I love everyone of you and thank you all for the support you have been in my life.

10 Things I am Thankful For
With Thanksgiving so close, I thought it was only appropriate to list the top ten things I am thankful for. I hope everyone will take time to remember all the blessings in their lives and give thanks to our Father in Heaven for them.
So here it goes.
1) My family. My parents and siblings. I am so grateful that when Heavenly Father sent me to this earth he gave me the family he did. I doubt any other family would have been as good for me as the one I am in.
2) Mike, of course. I still can't believe how far he has come from when we met. How far he has helped me come. I feel so lucky (yes...I mean it) to have him for my husband. I always put him as number one, but decided that today he would be second (his ego needed a little deflating).
3) The Gospel. I am so grateful that I was born into a family where the Gospel was such an important part of our lives. I feel so blessed to have been able to learn about the Gospel from the time I was little and have parents that set such a wonderful example for me.
4) Music. I love music. It is something that everyone can enjoy. It can invite the Spirit into a home, cheer up someone who is down, tell a story, and so much more.
5) Trials. Really. I am. The trials I have been through have given me the oppurtunity to become who I am. I have become a stronger person from them. They have helped to build my testimony to what it is today. Some have brought me closer to Mike. Others have helped me realize my weaknesses and strengths. That is why we are here. To go through trials and see how we will handle them and to learn and grow from them. Some trials are harder than others but every trial has helped me become who I am today.
6) Employment. In the current economy, I must say I am very thankful for being employed. And that Mike is employed. I know this could change at any time as we have learned in the past, but for now we are employed, able to pay all of our bills and not have to stress about money. Being in the line of work that I am I have seen how hard it is these days. I am very thankful that we are able to support ourselves and meet our financial responsibilities.
7) Friends. If there is any other support group that has helped me anywhere near as much as family, it has been my friends. Especially the Bolanders. Terrie and Cory were a very large part in Mike's re-activation, my testimony growing and us going to the temple. It was so wonderful that they were able to come and be with us when we went through the temple since they were such a large role in our getting there. They have supported us through our struggle with infertility and let us get our kid fix from their children. I am also grateful for many other friends. Too many to name. Everyone of them has been such a great support. Thank you all.
8) Freedom. I am very thankful to live in a country where we are free to worship the way that we choose. I know that I am very lucky to live here. And I am grateful for all those who fight to protect for those freedoms and to bring those freedoms to all of God's other children around the world.
9) Education. Ok, funny one for me to be thankful for. I took one college class and haven't taken another one since. I really am thankful for this though. I am grateful that I was able to get a good education in high school. Both from school and seminary. I am also grateful that there are so many ways to continue to learn new things. I have been lucky enough to take community classes, find books on subjects I am interested in, and that we have tools like the internet to help with research on different subjects. I have also found that bathroom readers provide some interesting knowledge that I have been able to wow people with. I think that it is important that we always be learning something. Otherwise, we are not making any progress.
10) My health. I know I am not the healthiest person. I could stand to lose a lot of weight, I have insulin resistance along with a load of fertility issues, but you know, I can still function, enjoy life and take care of myself. I have been able to take control of many of the issues I have. To date I have not had to have any actual surgeries (knock on wood). I have had it easy compared to so many people that I know. I am extremely grateful for that.
So those are my top ten. There are so many more things that I am grateful for. I hope that you all take the time to thing of the things you are thankful for as we approach this Holiday season.

Visit from Sarah
So this weekend, my friend Sarah flew up from Salt Lake City for a visit. She flew in late Thursday. I was not able to take Friday off work so she went and visited with her sister while I was at work. After work we went to the Cracker Barrel for dinner and came back home and watched a movie (Get Smart- I really liked it). Saturday morning we went shopping and Sarah went and got her hair done with my hair gal, Maya. I would have gotten mine done but I have an appointment next week. Later that night we went and met up with Natalie and Stephanie, some old high school friends. It was a lot of fun to get together with them and catch up.
Afterwards, Sarah and I came home and played some wii with Mike, and set up a blog for her...check it out....sarahgreenup.blogspot.com
Today, before taking Sarah to the airport there was only one thing to do when someone has a new hair do, new clothes, and I got a new tripod for my camera....PICTURES. Sarah needed some new pictures for her blog and facebook pages. All the ones she had were very old. Mike and I also needed some new pics. So we headed to the train depot to take some pictures. I then came home and edited a lot of them. Sarah had some skin cancer removed from her nose and had a scar that isn't quite gone yet so I got rid of it for her since it will be gone soon anyways. It was fun having Sarah here. It was a blast getting together with Steph and Natalie. I hope to keep in touch with them.
Mike and I have another exciting weekend next week. As long as the weather allows we will be heading up to Lewiston to visit Mike's family.
I am so thankful for the many wonderful blessings in my life. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite Holidays because we do not focus on what we want or get. We don't focus on buying presents, or having everything just perfect. The focus is on family and giving thanks for all the blessings in our lives. I hope that through the next few weeks before Thanksgiving we can all remember the many things we have to be thankful for.

Mike is Happy Now
Mike is happy now. They posted our picture on mix106radio.com. Although the caption reads Kate with some Big BSU fans. We both thought maybe that is just another reminder we need to get back into working out. HAHAHA.
We really do need to get back into our workout routine. Mike needs to lose 6 1/2 pounds before we go to Texas in 6 1/2 weeks. I want to lose another 10. After Sarah visits this weekend I am going to get a routine going again. It is getting to cold for walks in the morning and it is dark by the time I get home so it is time to get a routine of the exercise bike, dance dance revolution, weights and then the red seat my sister gave me. Walking and being outdoors is my favorite which is the reason why winter is the time I normally end up gaining weight back. Not this winter.
I am really looking forward to Sarah's visit. Time is flying so fast. Soon the Holidays will be here and then a new year. Time sure seems to go by faster and faster as you get older.

Mike is Upset
Ok. Mike is upset. The game pics just got posted on mix 106. Mike is very upset because the one they took with us is not on there. Doesn't bother me one bit since I don't like having my pic taken and me not deciding if it is ok to share or not. He was really upset about it but I think he will get over it.
Primary Program
Sunday was the primary program in our ward. Each child, for one of their parts, got up to the mic and said "My name is ____, I am a child of God." In between different classes they would sing one verse of the song I am a Child of God.
What a sweet and simple truth. I loved working in the primary in my old ward because the truths we teach them are so sweet and simple but the most important things a person can know. As Pam tells her twin brother in the movie Saturday's Warrior...freedom is knowing who you are, and when you know who you are that is when you can truly be happy.
I know that we are all children of our Heavenly Father. He knows and loves all of us and has a plan for each one of us. I am so grateful to have that knowledge. I can not imagine going through this life not knowing that I am a child of God. I think this is one of the most important truths a person can have a testimony of. Once you truly understand that you are a child of God and what that means, it changes your entire outlook on life. It changes everything you feel and know. I hope everyone of you knows that you are a son or daughter of Heavenly Father. You have a purpose in this life. He loves you and wants you to live your life so you may return home to Him.
I love Primary Programs. They always focus on the most important gospel principles. The truths that make up the foundation of a testimony of the Gospel.
I really miss working in the primary. I look forward to whatever calling the Lord chooses to give us, whenever that may be, in our new ward.
My name is Becca, I am a child of God.

Game Day Birthday

So today for my birthday, I had to get up nice and early to get ready for the game. Why? Because I had to be at the doctor at 8:30. After that, Mike took me to breakfast at one of our favorite resturaunts- Elmers. We sat next to a table full of Utah fans. As other people came into the resturaunt they were soon surrounded by BSU Orange and Blue. Also, our waitress came over to give us our check. She had a brand new pin. They had some people from the Sugar Bowl there that they were trying to impress. WOOHOO!
So then we went to the University. We walked around to all the booths and spent some money in the Bronco Shop. We each got a $5 game day shirt. Mike also got a beanie to wear under his Dr Seuss type hat. We were waiting for our friend Curtis when Kate from Mix 106 came over and asked to take her picutre with us for the webpage. She said we looked like die hard fans...and we are. The pics are not posted yet but check them out on mix106radio.com probably on Monday.
The game was great. We taped it and watched it later on TV. We saw ourselves once at the very beginning. Unfortunately, it got really cold (thanks to the wind) and started sprinkling half way through the last quarter so we decided to leave. After all we were really far ahead. All in all it was a great day. Above are a few of the pics from my phone.

It all started with a Mouse...
Tonight, we went to Disney on Ice. It was excellent. I really enjoyed it. They did an excellent job of telling many of the stories and had tons of our favorite characters. I loved Mulan. They did my favorite song from that movie- I'll Make A Man Out of You- in the version of that movie.
It was amazing to me to see how the skaters were able to do all the jumps, back flips, and more in the costumes they had to wear. Like the Genie from Alladin with that huge head. He did a backflip.

I also really liked how they ended with the Lion King and during the end, they sang the circle of life and almost every character came out. Then they said they were missing something. Over the speaker came Walt's voice. That he just wanted everyone to remember "It all started with a mouse"
The sad thing is I didn't know they were going to allow cameras in to the event so I didn't bring mine. That kind of sucks. Oh well. Tomorrow we have another big event...the BSU game.

Birthday Dinner
Ok, I know, my birthday isn't until Saturday. Still, with how busy we are this week my mother in law, Kathe, was nice enough to take me (and Mike of course) out to dinner at Olive Garden....We all ate until we were stuffed to the max.
The night looked even better when I came home to see TCU beating Utah 10 to 6. However, in the last 2 minutes, Utah got a TD and won. Dang. Well, maybe BYU can beat them so we can still have a great chance at the BCS if we go undefeated.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. If you watch the game...look for us. We will be between the 30-40 yard line (toward the South End Zone) front row.
GO BRONCOS!

My Eternal Companion

I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I love my husband. I was thinking about it last night. He is such the perfect companion for me. I never thought I would find someone who would accept me and all my falts. He is my strength, my best friend, my comic relief, my past, present and future. He has taught me how to relax...although I still have a ways to go. I am so lucky to have him as my eternal companion. I hope that I will always remember how blessed I am to have him in my life. During those times that I want to scream and rip my hair out, or I feel like I don't need a kid because I have him, I hope I can remember the wonderful things he does for me. Flowers for no reason, picking up my favorite candy during that time of month, helping clean the house, working tons of overtime so we can pay for fertility treatments....How lucky I am to have him in my life.
History Is Made
No matter who you voted for, or who won, this election was a historic event. Either we would have the first black president of the first female vice-president.
As I went to work, stores, and other places around town today, everyone knew how important this election was. What a historic day.
So many people today were very excited. They never thought we would see the day when we would finally have the first african-american president (I work with a few older women). This is a giant step in our country to break free of the past.
Now, I do have to say- when we had the first possible mormon, first possible woman, and first possible black presidential candidates last year, I think I had a great way to take care of it all in one shot....elect Gladys Knight.

November is here
November is here. Crazy isn't it. I find it so hard to believe that the Holiday season is right down the road, on it's way here to knock on our door. Time flies by so fast. Halloween was fun. We didn't have a single trick-or-treater, which was fine by Mike. That is the entire reason he bought the kind of candy he did.
We are jammed packed with things to do between now and Turkey Day. This week we have Disney on Ice, The Utah State vs Boise State game to attend, my birthday, My parents are going out of town so we are looking after their place. Add that to appointments and work schedules it gets a little hectic.
The leaves here in Boise are changing so fast now. The river is lined with colors of gold, orange, red and purple. Other areas the trees are already bare. Harrison Blvd is a canopy of color. It is so pretty. It is these scenes that make me hope we never have to leave Boise. Of course, the cold that will be coming in another month will make me dream of California.
So the Broncos moved up some more. GO BRONCOS! We are now #9 in the AP Poll and #10 in the BCS. SWEET! Guess that really boring game against New Mexico did us some good. (I love watching the game but come on 49-0 is a pretty boring game.)
On the transfer front- I am trusting Mike a lot more with the shots. I only have a few big bruises. However the daily one does give me something resembling a welt. FUN. It goes away in a few days so I do switch which side of the body I get the shot on. The estrogen patch they have me on now is giving me something resembling hot flashes. More like flashes where I get flushed. Not hot. I had true hot flashes with the clomid and this is not the same. Ahh, what we go through to have children. Just kidding. I know it will be worth it.
